Easy to see a well behaved magnetic field. Click on the image and you can zoom in and you can see that this 48 hour plot of the magnetic field is pretty well organized. It’s mostly clustered about the zero axis. This 48h chart shows you over a longer period of time trends that sometimes you can’t see with a six or 12 hour time period.

In the diagram below you can see the interplanetary magnetic field and the drastic change that took place at 05: 21. This was the time that the CME impact had occurred and you can see that it has severely disturbed the magnetic field. This is what you should be looking for nice organized calm magnetic field and then this sudden impulse that occurred and disturbed the field for at least 8 to 10 hours afterwards.
